Light rain in various parts of the country including Northern Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) and Gilgit Baltistan (GB) will break the intensity of prevailing foggy weather during the next two days.
This was stated by Chief Meteorologist Dr Ghulam Rasool on Thursday.
He said the westerly weather system would prevail for the next two days and cause scattered and light rain in various parts.
He said the prevailing fog had gripped various areas of the Punjab and the rain would reduce its intensity during the next two days, after which dense fog would prevail for the whole week.
The prevailing foggy weather conditions which disrupted the flights schedule and caused low visibility on the motorway would not prevail for the next two days.
Talking about the weather of the twin cities, Dr Ghulam said both cities would also receive light rain during the next two days.
Dr Ghulam said that the light rain on Friday and Saturday would be a blessing for the farmers of Barani areas to cultivate wheat crop.
“It is the ideal time of cultivation as it will be difficult for the farmers to cultivate the crop when the mercury level will further decrease”, he added.
The severe cold conditions were likely to prevail from Friday and snowfall would occur at KPK, Kashmir and GB during the next 24 hours, he said.
According to the met office, the lowest minimum temperatures recorded during the last 24 hours were Skardu -10C, Parachinar -09C, Astore -08C, Hunza and Gupis -05C, Kalam -04C, Dir -03C, Chitral, Drosh and Gilgit -02C.
