Future of Pakistan dependant on upcoming polls, says Shahbaz

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Thursday said the future of the country was dependent on the upcoming general elections.
Talking to assembly members from various districts, he said he was confident that Pakistan Muslim League–Nawaz (PML-N) would be voted into office once again by the people who had had enough of corrupt regimes.
He further said President Asif Ali Zardari and his cronies had broken all records of corruption in the country, adding that under the dynamic leadership of Nawaz Sharif, every penny looted by the current leadership would be returned to the people.
The chief minister said it was very unfortunate that Pakistan possessed nuclear capabilities in one hand and a beggar’s bowl in the other. Moreover, Shahbaz said that the current electricity and gas crises in the country had left thousands of workers jobless and forced them to live in poverty.
The chief minister alleged that the PPP government had struck a deadly blow to Punjab’s economy by suspending electricity and gas supply to the province. He said that in order to make Pakistan a self-reliant country, PML-N would move to restore power supply as soon as possible, if elected in the next elections.
The chief minister was also of the view that the taxpayer’s money, which had been lost due to corruption, could have been used to build hundreds of schools, hospitals and roads across the country.
Shahbaz said the PML-N would spare no effort for the elimination of corruption adding that PML-N’s current government in Punjab had already undertaken various development projects in a transparent manner.
Shahbaz said educational scholarships were being given to 40,000 talented students through the Punjab Educational Endowment Fund. Moreover, thousands of laptops had been distributed among students as a reward for their hard work.
He said the Punjab government of PML-N had served the masses with honesty and commitment and that was why people were looking towards PML-N for a serious change in the status quo.
The CM said after Lahore, Solid Waste Management and Metro Bus Service projects would be initiated in five other cities of the province. He further said the Metro Bus project was in the final stages of completion and would result in availability of international-standard traveling facilities to the common man. He said metro bus was not merely a project but a mission and was being completed expeditiously.
The CM claimed that the people of the country were fully aware of who was looting the national wealth and who was serving the masses.
Shahbaz added that the victory of the PML-N in the by-elections had proved its popularity among the masses and all surveys were pointing to people’s support of PML-N.
