The Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) has finalised its strategy for upcoming elections under which it will launch a full-fledged campaign within the next few weeks.
“Keeping in view the political activities in the country, the party has decided to launch its election campaign in all four provinces and party chief Chaudhry Shujat Hussain has tasked all provincial presidents to make arrangements in this regard,” said a PML-Q leader.
He said under the strategy, which was finalised in a party meeting recently, Shujaat Hussain and secretary-general Mushahid Hussain would address public meetings in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh and Balochistan while Deputy Prime Minister Parvez Elahi would take care of Punjab, especially Lahore.
The PML-Q leader said Shujaat had tasked the party’s Sindh General Secretary and Advisor to Sindh chief minister Haleem Adil Shaikh and Aleem Adil Shaikh to arrange a public meeting in Sindh while Federal Minister and party’s Balochistan President Jam Mohammad Yousaf had been asked to arrange public meetings in his province. When contacted, PML-Q Deputy Secretary Information Ghulam Mustafa Malik confirmed that the party had finalised its campaign strategy for the forthcoming elections. Many politicians, who have contacted the party for obtaining tickets, have been told to join the party first and then the parliamentary board will consider their requests, he added.
He said Shujaat had gone to Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah and the party would start the election campaign on his return next week.
PML-Q Khyber Pakhtunkhwa President Syed Qasim Shah has organised three public meetings in the province, including Swat, while party leaders from Sindh, Aleem Adil Shaikh and Haleem Adil Shaikh, have also invited Shujaat and Mushahid Hussain to address public gatherings there, he said.
He said Parvez Elahi was already addressing public gatherings in Punjab while Jam Yousaf had also been asked to revitalise things in his recent visit to Sindh.
