Despite several reservations expressed by the United States, the PPP government on Wednesday signed the gas pipeline project with Iran which is expected to aid efforts in overcoming gas and energy crisis in the country.
Addressing a gathering of PPP workers, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Sumsam Bukhari said that the agreement showed that the government was committed to a foreign policy that served national interests.
He said Gen (r) Pervez Musharraf’s poor policies had led to a negative image of the country, adding that under the leadership of President Zardari had Pakistan enjoyed good relations with all nations of the world.
He further said that the government would make full efforts to resolve problems faced by farmers and initiate programmes to boost agricultural production.
