Another strange move

The dust has not settled yet on the appointment of people with weird background and capabilities in NICL, OGDC, PIA, Steel Mill, DG Hajj etc when comes another strange news. One retired major, supposedly from President’s Secretariat, has been nominated as Chairman of FPSC. I have no idea about the calibre of this gentleman but he must be some military official inducted into civil service. Heading FPSC, replacing a high profile Justice (retd) Bhaganwdas Das as Chairman FPSC, is a position where a person with clear intelligence and wisdom and experience is needed. Major sahib can best be a good police or civil administrator in any capacity or he could be still a much better man for Presidential Secretariat but heading FPSC is surely not his piece of cake. This appointment notification should be reviewed and reconsidered. I can understand the paucity of calibre of men in the country or their loyalty level, but I am positive that some may still be available in private sector, if not in public sector. After all, we did find someone goof for ECP; some such person can be found for this job as well. If my suggestion matters, Tasneem Noorani, retired interior secretary, is not a bad choice?
