18 militants, three FC men killed in Awaran operation

At least 18 militants were killed and three Frontier Corps officials have been reportedly martyred during security forces’ action against extremists in Mashkay sub-division of Awaran district in the last 24 hours.
The operation began last night on order of the provincial government after the Baloch Liberation Front killed two FC men. According to details, the security personnel engaged terrorist with heavy artillery fire, destroying five of their camps and killing 18 among them. Three FC men were also martyred in firing by the militants.
A spokesman for the Frontier Corps said the terrorists opened indiscriminate fire on a FC convoy heading to Mashkay from Khuzdar, killing two FC soldiers. Later, the FC troops launched a counter-attack on terrorists in Mashkay and its surrounding areas. Many terrorists were killed and their two camps devastated in the counter operation. “These criminals were involved in targeted killings‚ bomb blasts and kidnapping for ransom in Khuzdar‚ Mashkay and other areas of Awaran. The FC said they were also involved in anti-state activities in Balochistan at the behest of foreign enemies.
