On the 136th birth anniversary of Muhammad Ali Jinnah‚ President Asif Ali Zardari visited the mausoleum of Qauid-e-Azam to pay his tributes to the founder of the nation and vowed to continue pursuing the great leader’s vision for Pakistan.
The president laid a floral wreath on the ‘mazar’ of Quaid-e-Azam and offered ‘Fateha’ for the departed soul of the great leader.
Presidential spokesman Senator Farhatullah Babar said on this occasion the president, while reiterating his pledge to continue working for Pakistan as envisaged by the founder of the nation, urged the people to forge unity in their ranks and rededicate themselves to the ideals and principles upheld by the Quaid. The president said the birth anniversary of this visionary leader was an occasion for all to rededicate themselves to democratic ideals and principles as championed and pursued by him in his lifetime.
He said that the need for reiterating our pledge to these noble ideals was never as great as it was today when we were fighting an enemy who was posing an existential threat to us and wanted to impose its own agenda through use of force. Let us re-pledge today to fight till we finish the demons of extremism and militancy that seek to strike at the foundational principles of democracy‚ constitutionalism and rule of law‚ the president said on the occasion. On the visitors’ book‚ the Zardari wrote‚ “It is a great honor to visit the ‘Mazar-e-Quaid’ and pay homage to the father of the nation. We pledge today to uphold the democratic values for which Pakistan was created. I call upon the people to join hands in fighting the mindset that is seeking to destroy our nationhood and democracy”.
