Every year we hear our politicians, especially those political parties branded as PML, pay homage to Quaid’s memory, but there is absolutely nothing on ground which reflects that any of them bear any resemblance or commitment to legacy of a great man, who through a peaceful political struggle, carved out of subcontinent, a country which he hoped would function as a modern democratic welfare state, where Muslim majority could live in peace and prosperity with men of other faiths and creed, without any fear or discrimination.
Even in the simple matter of renaming roads in Punjab, the preference is not for men or women who waged struggle and were loyal to Quaid-e-Azam or Allama Iqbal, but those who were either very close to the elder Shariff or are loyalists of this family. Why do not people walk their talk, and why this empty rhetoric and claims of being inheritors of Quaid or Allama Iqbal’s legacy? They should just play their politics and stop exploiting name of Muslim League. All these factions, be they F, Q, N etc are almost all the same, none better than PPP or others, each in their own tenures indulged in massive abuse of powers and flight of capital from Pakistan, and having within their ranks individuals who have pledged an oath of loyalty to other nations.
