The Pakistan Economy Watch (PEW) on Tuesday lauded the decision of the government to include representatives of consumers and business chambers in formulating policy for fixing Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) prices.
Besides, officials of Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), APCNGA, CNGDA, and the Ministry of Petroleum, and the sub-committee of the federal cabinet’s ECC had asked the Network for Consumer Protection, Islamabad and Women’s Chamber of Commerce to attend the meeting scheduled for Wednesday (today), which was a very positive development, it said. Earlier committees lacked representation of owners, consumers and business chambers making their decisions questionable, said PEW President Dr Murtaza Mughal.
He said that inclusion of all parties concerned would save stakeholders from losses and would help the government avoid controversies in the future by putting an end to the crisis that the masses had been facing since the last two months. The committee headed by Law Minister Farooq H Naek seemed interested in resolving the issue lest it brought the popularity graph of the government down, he added.
