Pakistan’s maiden victory over India in T20 Cricket

Pakistan recorded their first ever win over India in Twenty-20 cricket by winning the first match of the two-match series at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore yesterday.
Pakistan’s maiden victory over their arch rivals came in the fourth match. India have won all three matches including one in bowl-out after match ended in a tie, before this one which was the first ever Twenty-20 match between the two teams on Indian soil.
** Shahid Afridi became the most capped player in Twenty-20 cricket by playing in this match. Brendon McCullum who played 56 matches held the previous record of most matches in this type of cricket.
** Mohammed Irfan became the 50th Pakistani player to appear in Twenty-20 international cricket. At 7 ft and 1 inch, Mohammed Irfan is the tallest to play in Twenty-20 international cricket.
** Mohammed Hafeez recorded the highest individual score for Pakistan against India in Twenty-20 cricket by making 61 off 44 balls with six fours and two sixes. Misbah-ul-Haq who made 53 at Durban on September 14, 2007 held the previous record.
** Bhuvneshwar Kumar recorded the second best bowling performance for India on debut in Twenty-20 by taking three for nine in four overs. Pragyan Ojha who took four wickets for 21 runs off four overs against Bangladesh at Nottingham on June 6, 2009 holds the record of best bowling performance on debut for India in Twenty-20 cricket. Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s three for nine was also the best bowling for India against Pakistan in Twenty-20 cricket. Irfan Pathan who took three wickets for 16 runs at Johannesburg on September 24, 2007 held the previous record.
** Umar Gul became the third Pakistan after Shahid Afridi (57 matches), Shoaib Malik (51 matches) and fourth player overall to complete a half century of Twenty-20 matches. New Zealand’s Brendon McCullum who played 56 matches is the other player to do the same.
** India recorded their lowest ever total against Pakistan by making 133 for nine in 20 overs. Their previous lowest against Pakistan in Twenty-20 cricket was 141 for nine in 20 overs at Durban on September 14, 2007.
** Shoaib Malik equalled his highest score in Twenty-20 cricket by making an unbeaten 57 off 50 balls with three fours and same number of sixes. He also made 57 against Sri Lanka at Johannesburg on September 17, 2007.
