Like other parts of the world, the Christian community celebrated Christmas with religious zeal and fervour in Pakistan, particularly in the capital city of Islamabad.

The celebrations took place amid tight security provided by the capital city police
Leaders of Christian community were also present on the occasion and addressed the function. They said they would live and die for Pakistan and would work for its development and prosperity. The local Christian religious and political leaders said minorities had been playing their key role in national progress, prosperity, peace and in protecting the sovereignty of Pakistan. They revealed that the minorities had also rendered precious sacrifices for Pakistan when the country had come into existence in 1947.
Special prayers were offered in different churches of the city, while the community prayed for the progress and development of the country. Fatima Lady Church was decorated with X-mass trees and colourful lights.
The community members exchanged gifts with each other. The families later thronged the Agha Khan road F8/4 to enjoy the festivities of Christmas. Events were also held in other parts of capital and Rawalpindi where small Christian communities lived and worked.
