Decision has been taken to install Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras in all the shopping centres of the federal capital to monitor criminal activities and curb the growing number of street crimes. Control rooms would also be built to monitor the incidents of crime, purse snatching and mobile snatching. The district management had contacted the traders’ community to address the snags on the way to installation of cameras. Sources said that in the first phase of this consultation process, the Islamabad deputy commission had called the traders of the super market to his office on Wednesday. Sources said the installation of CCTV cameras would be carried out in super markets of the capital city including Jinnah Super Market, F-10 Markaz, I-8 Markaz, Blue Area and other important commercial centres.
