Bishop of Lahore, Reverand (r) Irfan Jamil on Tuesday stressed on the need for inter-faith harmony and said that Pakistan needed people who believed in religious harmony and could promote peace, love and brotherhood in the country. Addressing a gathering at the Cathederal Church Lahore on Christmas day, he said the country was confronting multiple challenges and the situation demanded complete unity among people belonging to all religions and schools of thought. “Those who want the country to progress were in majority while those favouring terrorism were a minority,” he said. The Bishop hoped the government would continue to strive for the fundamental rights of the minorities as enshrined in the constitution. He felicitated the Christian community on the birth of Jesus Christ and urged them to celebrate the occasion with jubilation.
