22 children die due to measles

So far at least 22 children have died due to fatal disease of measles during the last five weeks in various areas of Sindh including Sukkur, Kandhkot, Kashmore and Jacobabad. According to details, the fatal measles has spread in 11 districts of Sindh and it is increasing due to lack of provision of treatment and vaccinations to the affected children. The EPI has announced to launch anti-measles campaign to 11 districts of the Sindh from first week of January 2013 under which vaccination drops would be administrated to children aged from 9 to 10 months old. Federal Minister Syed Khurshid Shah belonging to Sukkur expressed anger over District Health Officer Jay Ram Das’s statement that the children had died due to intensive cold weather.
