Thick fog in different areas of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhawa on Sunday night and Monday morning disrupted many flights in Lahore and flow of traffic on the Motorways.
Many areas of the two provinces remained under the cover of dense fog due to which traffic at motorways remained suspended for six hours.
Motorway remained closed after the visibility was down to zero and the motorists were told to switch on fog-lights while driving and travel in convoys as part of safety measures.
The motorway was closed from Babu Sabu Interchange (Lahore) to Pindi Bhattian Interchange (Faisalabad) due to which passengers had to wait for hours.
The motorway remained closed for the traffic until the visibility improved after sun rise on Monday.
Air traffic at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International was affected for 13 hours and various flights were diverted to other cities due to low visibility. The airport was finally reopened to flights around mid day on Monday.
