CM says thana culture must be changed

Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif on Saturday he was dedicated to the mission of providing justice to the oppressed masses, adding that a system to address the complaints of people must be evolved at the earliest.
Talking to complainants from various districts, he said that the Punjab government was working tirelessly to change the thana culture and model police stations would be established across the province for this purpose.
He further said that the investigations of vases should be completed as soon as possible and challans must be submitted in the courts at the earliest so the complaints of citizens could be addressed in a timely manner.
He added that officials using delaying tactics in investigations would face charges of criminal negligence. The chief minister stressed that provision of justice was the foremost duty of police officials and they must spare no efforts in ensuring that justice was being served.
Shahbaz heard the problems of complainants and took note of 15 various cases and issued instructions to relevant police officials. He ordered immediate arrest of former DSP Jehangir involved in 92 kilogrammes heroin case in Raiwaind, saying that police officials being involved in narcotics cases was intolerable. He also ordered security to be provided to the plaintiff. Police officials present informed him that a man accused of murder in Sheikhupura had fled abroad.
Shahbaz said that full efforts must be made to bring the accused to Pakistan so that justice could be served. He further assured the family of a girl who was abused and murdered that the culprits would soon be caught and would face due punishment.
Shahbaz also directed the police to take action against the accused involved in murder of four persons in Nawan Kot and called for a report within fifteen days.
