United in for Garay, Herrera

The Sun reports that United will bid £15million for Argentina centre-back Garay at the end of the season. It claims United have watched the 26-year-old former Real Madrid player “several times” this season with Sir Alex Ferguson’s scouts present in Benfica’s 3-1 win at Sporting Lisbon on December 10 as well as for Wednesday’s 2-1 away win at SC Olhanense. According to the report, United have “made their interest known” to Benfica as they bid to strengthen a “shaky defence” which has already let in 24 goals in 17 Barclays Premier League games this campaign. Meanwhile, the Daily Mail believes United are one of a few clubs trailing Pachuca midfielder Herrera. “At this moment there is no concrete offer on the table, but there certainly is a lot of interest,” Pachuca president Jesus Martinez told ESTO. “Porto are not the only side in the race. There is also a club from England and another one in France. “Pachuca plan to sell Herrera in the summer of 2013.
