The Balochistan government is firm on launching a special anti-polio drive in the high-risk areas of the province. “We are determined to eradicating the menace of polio from Balochistan and devising a strategy to launch the second round of special campaign against the crippling disease,” provincial coordinator on polio and Additional Health Secretary Noorul Haq Baloch said. He said routine immunization campaign in Balochistan had completed, adding however that the deputy commissioners of the polio affected districts had been directed to review security arrangements and come up with a foolproof security plan for the second round to make the drive successful. Expressing satisfaction over the completion of the polio drive, Baloch said the drive had been made successful with the cooperation of tribal elders and political leaders of the area. About the scheduled second round of special campaigns in the high-risk areas including Pishin, Qilla Abdullah and Quetta, he said concerted strategy was being evolved and it would be launched after thorough consultations within a week.
