KMC administrator visit construction sites of pedestrian bridges

The KMC administrator has said that pedestrian bridges on 11 important locations were being installed to facilitate pedestrians and to prevent citizens from traffic accidents whose construction would be completed within two months and three of those pedestrian bridges would be installed on Shaheed-e-Millat Expressway. The construction of pedestrian bridges on four locations had started and planning to stop the use of u-turn from wrong side was being prepared whereas traffic signs and cat eyes which were in broken and worse condition would be repaired and installed in fine condition along with removing of unnecessary crossing from center eye land of roads.
He expressed these views during a visit of construction site of model pedestrian bridge near Khatoon-e-Pakistan College on Stadium Road where he was accompanied by Sr. Director Transport & Communication Muhammad Ather and other officials.
Earlier Administrator Karachi visited construction sites of pedestrian bridges on various locations as well and issued necessary directives to concerned officers.
Administrator Karachi said that 11 locations for the installation of pedestrian bridges had been selected which included Shahrah-e-Faisal near New Jinnah Terminal Flyover, Stadium Road near Khatoon-e-Pakistan College Agha Khan Hospital, Shaheed-e-Millat Expressway near Iqra University, Shaheed-e-Millat Expressway near Azam Basti, Shaheed-e-Millat Expressway near Manzoor Colony, Gulistan-e-Johar near Dar-ul-Sehat Hospital, Rashid Minhas Road near KDA Flats, Korangi No.4 Government College for Women, M.A Jinnah Road near Humdard Hospital, Capri Cinema, Nawab Siddique Ali Khan Road near Farooq-e-Azam Masjid and Shah Waliullah Road near Café Today whereas construction work on some locations had been started which included Shahrah-e-Pakistan near Khatoon-e-Pakistan College, Gulistan-e-Johar near Dar-ul-Sehat Hospital, Rashid Minhas Raod near KDA Flats and Korangi No.4 Government College for Women.
He said that pedestrian bridges were being built after consultation with experts of traffic engineering and conducting surveys and proper arrangements of lights on these pedestrian bridges would be made to facilitate citizens in night timings as well and such pedestrian bridges would be built which would be attractive and provide pedestrians with safety.
He also directed to enhance the speed of installation work of new pedestrian bridges in various areas and shifting of those pedestrian bridges which were in broken and worse condition. Administrator Karachi on this occasion directed T&C department to make every possible effort to curb the traffic accidents, improve design of roads and take measures for creating awareness of traffic rules among citizens.
