The Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) on Friday defused a bomb concealed in a cement block near Cheel Chowk in Lyari area of the city.
According to police, the bomb, concealed in a cement block, was placed outside a shop. Police and BDS personnel reached the spot upon receiving information of a bomb planted in Lyari area. Fear and panic gripped the area after the incident.
According to police sources, locally-produced bomb was fitted with a remote-controlled detonation device and six to seven kilograms of explosive material and ball bearing were used in its making.
