Islamabad Police have been directed to launch an effective crackdown against criminal elements especially absconders and those involved in bootlegging and drug peddling activities.
The Islamabad Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Yaseen Farooq gave these directions in a meeting held to review policing measures and crime situation in the city.
The SSP directed all police officials to take effective steps to control crime in the city and to adopt a professional as well as a responsible attitude to mitigate the sufferings of the people.
The meeting was also attended among others by all Superintendents of Police (SPs) including SP (Saddar) Sajid Kiani, SP (City) Muhammad Ilyas, SP (Industrial Area) Khurram Rasheed, SP (Investigation) Mustansar Feroz, SP (Rural) Sardar Sadaqat Ali Khan, and all Sub-Divisional Police Officers (SDPOs) and Station House Officers (SHOs).
The SSP ordered the police force to maintain strict patrolling and vigilance to ensure effective policing and directed them to constitute special teams to carry out raids against gambling dens and guest houses involved in immoral activities.
He further ordered to ensure immediate arrests of proclaimed offenders and other criminals involved in crimes of heinous nature and who were still at large.
He also directed the police officials to ensure strict monitoring of those persons who had faced imprisonment in cases of car lifting or were involved in other criminal activities.
SSP Yaseen said that corrupt elements bringing a bad name to the department would not be spared and urged all police officials to serve the general public to the best of their abilities. “Policing is a service oriented job and every police official must serve humanity with devotion,” the SSP maintained.
He categorically asked all police officials to focus on resolving public complaints and to take every possible step to provide maximum relief to the citizens.
He said those police officials who were responsible for delaying the registration of cases and carrying out sluggish investigation would not be spared, while strict disciplinary action would be taken against them.
The SSP directed the police officials to be polite with their staff and to brief those deputed at the police pickets to keep them alert about new developments to avoid any untoward incidents from happening. He also asked the police officials to take welfare steps for policemen especially those performing duties at police pickets during night time.
He said that First Information Reports (FIRs) should be registered at police stations on merit and without any delay or inconvenience to the citizens. SSP Yaseen further said that Islamabad Police was determined to ensure protection to the lives and property of the citizens and no stone would be left unturned to accomplish this responsibility.
