Powerful institutions exempted from accountability: PAC

Chairman Nadeem Afzal Gondal has shown dissatisfaction over the audit of the Supreme Court and stated that audit of weak institutions is made while powerful ones are exempted from accountability.
Public Accounts Committee (PAC) also sought details of the meetings of Supreme Court’s Department Accounts Committee (DAC) and the figures presented by auditors.
The meeting of Public Accounts Committee was held on Wednesday in the Parliament House in the chairmanship of Nadeem Afzal Gondal.
Chairman PAC Nadeem Afzal Gondal asked Auditor General of Pakistan Akhtar Buland Rana how he gave clean chit to the Supreme Court.
At this, Rana said that the audit of Supreme Court is made each year, and no difficulty is faced during the process. He further said that no influence is accepted from any one during the audit, and nobody is given concession in this regard.
Auditor General Akhtar Buland Rana stated that the audit-office is present only in the Supreme Court and no such office is operating in any other institution.
