Labour colony set up in city at a cost of Rs 2,177 million

Provincial Minister for Labour Haji Ehsanuddin Qureshi while talking to different delegations of labourers on Tuesday said that flats are being given to labourers on ownership basis for the first time in the history of the country.
He said a labour colony comprising of 1,296 flats and costing more than Rs 2,177 million was being set up on 47 acres of land along Defence Road in Lahore. Another labour colony was also being constructed in Muzaffargarh comprising of 303 residential units, he added.
Ehsanuddin said the government would also provide health care facilities to labourers, adding that the Labour Department would spend Rs 4.31 billion for the purpose during the current fiscal year.
The minister further said that 2,000 residential units would be constructed during the current fiscal year in Sialkot, Gujranwala and Multan, while adding that new social security hospitals would also be set up and existing hospitals would be updated.
