Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Secretary General Liaqat Baloch on Tuesday said if the JI came to power, it would stabilise Pakistan’s economy and give relief to the masses by abolishing the ‘heavy taxes’ on the commodities of daily use.
“The JI will abolish poverty from the country and will help the middle and lower middle classes to prosper,” he said while talking to people of his constituency at his residence.
“The JI will put an end to the General Sales Tax, will lessen indirect taxation, reduce the prices of daily kitchen items and that of gas and electricity by 20 to 30 percent,” he said.
Baloch said a commission comprising parliamentarians and stakeholders would be set up in order to determine the right price of petroleum.
“We will increase the salary of the workers in accordance with the inflation rate in the country,” he said.
He regretted the rising rate of unemployment as a result of closure of factories due to load shedding of gas.
