Australia keen to support Pakistan’s female entrepreneurs: Heyward


High Commissioner of Australia to Pakistan Peter Heyward on Wednesday said his country was keen to support Pakistani female entrepreneurs.

He said the Embassy of Australia and Islamabad Women’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IWCCI) would push women empowerment initiatives, and businessmen from his country would participate in the upcoming Islamabad Expo 2013.

Heyward said this at a function organised by the IWCCI, and IWCCI Founder President Samina Fazil, IWCCI President Farida Rashid, AWCCI President Firdosia Fazal and others were also present at the occasion.

Heyward appreciated Pakistan’s positive economic growth and the growing business confidence of foreign investors which was an opportunity.

The envoy’s wife Suzzane Heyward said she looked forward to closer cooperation, partnership and exchange of delegations with Pakistan. Female entrepreneurs played a vital role in the economic development of every country and Pakistan needed to support women for economic growth in the country, she said.

Suzzane added that she would do everything possible to assist Pakistani women to improve their competitiveness which would enhance their revenue generating capacity. Samina Fazil and Farida Rashid also acknowledged numerous positive developments in Australia and agreed to work closely to further economic relations.

They said that the embassy and chamber could work together on joint activities such as business seminars and trade missions.
