The Polo Lounge defaults on rent

In the four years it has been in business, The Polo Lounge which is a very upscale and prominent restaurant in Saidpur village has apparently defaulted Rs1.4 million it owes to the Capital Development Authority (CDA). The amount includes rent for the first two years which is unpaid. Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar who is part owner of the restaurant told a local magazine “it’s a 24-hour job running a restaurant, and my poor partner has been running the show. I will make up for it when I get the time”. The lounge has been paying rent of Rs119, 160 regularly for the last two years but the outstanding amount remains. The rent amount is not that much considering the location of the restaurant. The different properties at Saidpur village were auctioned in 2008 when an advertisement was put out by then CDA chairman Kamran Lashari.
