The country’s best polo players drawn is ten teams are show casing their talent in the Bank of Punjab sponsored Lahore Open Polo Championship.
This was stated by Abdul Haye Mehta, President, Lahore Polo Club here on Monday at a news conference. Also present were Kamran Ali, Group Head ,Operations, bank of Punjab and Maughes Bokhari, group head, Human recourse. Mehta said the event which commenced today (Monday) has its own significance as top polo players of the country are participating in it and high quality polo will be witnessed during the week long event.
” It is the third successive year that Bank of Punjab is sponsoring this event which is a regular annual feature of the LPC polo calendar and a tournament on the calender of Pakistan Polo Association”,he added. He said efforts are being made to turn LPC in a most modern polo facility in the country by improving existing facilities of riding school, grounds and infrastructure.
” Our future plans focus on adding squash courts, swimming pool and other sports facilities to make it a modern club which is also available for other than polo and horse riding activities”,he asserted. LPC chief praised the contribution of the sponsors and said it will go a long way in the further popularising polo among youth. ” We are making gradual progress in the development of polo and it is heartening sign that our junior polo league is being participated by around 200 aspiring riders who are committed to take up polo as a sport in future “. Kamran Ali of BOP said their association with polo is getting stronger with each passing day as they are sponsoring this event on regular basis. ” BOP is playing its due role for building a healthy society and we are patronising a number of sports other than polo to keep engage youth in constructive activities “,he said.
