‘Surkh Pholon ki Sabz Khushbo’ launched at RAC

The Rawalpindi Arts Council (RAC) and the Embassy of Japan launched a book titled “Surkh Pholon ki Sabz Khushbo” in celebration of the 60th anniversary of Pakistan and Japan’s diplomatic relations. Ambassador of Japan to Pakistan Hiroshi Oe was the guest of honour on the occasion along with Naheed Manzoor. The book compiled by Khurram Sohail marked a journey of creativity between individuals of both the countries. It explored how Urdu flourished in Japan before partition of the sub-continent and became popular. It further talked about how Japanese characters transformed themselves in Urdu and how the language made inroads into Japanese culture through short stories and popular readings. Hiroshi said “The book launch represents our efforts to continue promoting bilateral relations in various fields at different levels”. He said this year marked the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Japan and Pakistan. “In our efforts to enhance ties between the two nations, the Embassy of Japan has been holding cultural events throughout the years,” he added. Hiroshi also thanked the RAC for its cooperation in this regard. APP
Naheed said the collaboration was a unique example of the Japanese embassy’s trust in the RAC. She congratulated Khurram for highlighting the impact of literature of both the countries in his book.
Embassy of Japan Counsellor Toshikazu Isomura said there could not be a more precious gift than a book on the 60th anniversary of Pakistan and Japan’s diplomatic relations.
