International shipping line chooses Pakistani folk music as 2013 theme

Ordinary Pakistanis are not sensually tuned enough to understand and appreciate the richness and expertise of indigenous folk music, said musicians at the launching ceremony of Merck Pakistan’s 2013 calendar.
Folk Music of Pakistan has been selected as the theme for the 2013 calendar of Merck. Merck Pakistan Managing Director Abdul Baqy Khan in presence of Merck Chairman of the Executive Board Dr Karl-Ludwig Kley mentioned that Pakistani folk music deals with subjects surrounding daily life in grandiose terms.
Welcoming Dr. Karl-Ludwig Kley Chairman of the Executive Board of Merck at the calendar launch, Abdul Baqy Khan, Managing Director of Merck Pakistan, said “Presence of Dr. Karl-Ludwig Kley in the ceremony indicates how much importance the multinational gives to Pakistan for investment in corporate sector.”
He said that “this is beyond the love and emotion usually contained in its traditional and classical counterpart”. Musicians and music lovers present on the occasion said that different forms of Folk music in Pakistan had paved way for a diverse number of music genres.
These different forms of music have given people an outlet to express how they feel about many things in their lives.
Pakistani music has evolved and is being recognized as a great medium for self-expression, said Mohammad Sulaiman.
