Contempt of court case against “Weekly Pulse”

Adjourning hearing of “Weekly Pulse” contempt of court case until January 09, 2013, Justice Jawad S. Khawaja clarified that Supreme Court strived to seek facts in the contempt of court case against “Weekly Pulse”.
A 2-member bench of the apex court comprising Justice Jawad S. Khawaja and Justice Khilji Arif Hussain heard the proceedings of the contempt of court case against “Weekly Pulse”.
During the hearing, Dr. Abdul Basit who is counsel of Chief Editor of “Weekly Pulse”, Mohsin Jamil Baig, prayed to the court that intra court appeal was fixed before the special bench, but the hearing was not done due to unavailability of judges.
He told SC that his client can not submit affidavit because he received affidavits of witnesses two days ago.
During the previous hearing of the case, the SC had ordered that affidavits be obtained from the witnesses. These witnesses include Registrar SC Dr Faqir Hussain, PRO to SC Shahid Hussain Kamboyo, and employees of IT section.
Dr. Abdul Basit prayed for adjournment of the case of contempt of court against “Weekly Pulse” till 3rd or 4th week of January, 2013.
The SC adjourned further hearing till January 09, 2013.
