President of Lahore chapter of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) Pervez Malik on Monday termed the gas load shedding in Punjab as a cleverly hatched conspiracy to destroy the industrial sector of the province.
In a statement, Pervez Malik asked where the gas was going if it was not being utilised for power generation units, textile, fertilizer, leather, cement or CNG stations.
Furthermore, he said that the country had vast natural gas reserves but this treasure was not being utilised well due to weak policies of the government, inability of the concerned departments and unchecked gas theft.
He said that during the tenure of present regime, millions of industrial workers had lost their jobs, adding that Pakistan People’s Party which had been chanting the slogan of food, cloth and homes had failed to take any solid steps to curb the problem of the people.
The PML-N leader said that textile sector was the largest export-oriented sector of the country with over 60 percent share in the total exports. Despite its importance, gas was not being supplied to this large sector.
