Banned militant organisations in Punjab have contacts with Uzbek militants who charge $40,000 for carrying out terrorist attacks in Pakistan, PML-Q’s Sheikh Waqas Akram said on Tuesday.

During a National Assembly session here, Akram said the Uzbek militants were in contact with the banned outfits in Punjab, adding that the members of these banned organisations could be seen sporting shirts of the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan (IMU).

Akram said Interior Minister Rehman Malik should stop “spinning tales” and take definitive action against these militant outfits.

The minister’s revelation comes after a brazen attack on Peshawar’s Bacha Khan Airport and a military airbase on Saturday by militants said to be foreigners of Dagestan and Uzbek origins.

Uzbek militants are known to corroborate with the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in battles against the security forces, which include attacks such as the one on Bannu Jail conducted to release Taliban inmates and high-profile prisoner Adnan Rashid.
