Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) former president Asma Jahangir on Monday said that Altaf Hussain should reply to the contempt of court notice. Talking to media outside Lahore High Court, Asma Jahangir was of the view that everyone should respect the courts, adding that excessive exercise of the Contempt of Court Law would lead to loss of its utility. She said that the judges should use the contempt of court law judiciously and that remarks should not be made which caused turmoil in the country.
She further said that there is a need to review the judicial policy. She said that lawyers were in favor of speedy delivery of justice but they would not allow the dismissal of cases on the pretext of the recently approved National Judicial Policy (NJP). On the occasion, SCBA President Asrar-ul-Haq said that the general elections will be held on time, however, the target of disposing of the cases with relevance to judicial policy cannot be met in accordance with the deadline.
