Shia Ulema Council (SUC) called off its peaceful sit in strike against sectarian killings of Shittes after 39 hours on Saturday night. A delegation of Shitte scholars and prominent civil society personnel called on Governor Ishrat Ul Ebad on Saturday at Governor House. The delegation announced to call off the strike sighting a successful dialogue with the provincial premier. The Governor assured shittes that he would ensure life, liberty and property of the second most populous Islamic sect of the country. Dozens of SUC members including women and children had staged the sit-in at Numaish Chowrangi since Friday evening against the targeted killings of shittes and against bombing of their processions. The strikers also demanded justice for the families of all those who were killed in Balochistan and Gilgit-Baltistan secterian violence. The governor following the development met the delegation in the early hours of Sunday morning. He patiently heard the members of delegation and assured that stringent actions would be taken for ensuring the security of the Shia youths from target killing besides taking other measures to remove the apprehensions and worries of the Millat-e-Jafferia.
