An alarming increase in the number of quacks has been witnessed in Rawalpindi, who are playing with the lives of poor masses.
The citizens have complained in several areas of the city, particularly the congested areas, that these quacks have set up their clinics under different pretexts and plundering illiterate people on the one hand and putting their lives in danger on the other.
They said that quacks used different tactics to attract citizens and extort money from them and display nameplates of qualified doctors.
“They have been deceiving people,” said Shoaib, a resident of Tench Bhatta.
Ashfaq Khan, another citizen, said many areas of the city had been neglected in operation against quacks, which was great injustice with the residents of those areas, particularly the areas of low-income groups of society.
It was learnt that ward-boys, technicians and operation theatre assistants of government hospitals were practicing medicine by displaying fake qualification certificates.
The citizens urged the authorities concerned to come forward and play their role to curb the practices of unqualified physicians and dentists. They said the provincial government should also look into the matter and ensure action against quacks.
