Heavy snow fall in Chitral on Monday badly affected the communication system in the area.
Most of the link roads including Lowari tunnel have been closed for all types of traffic as the snow blocked the roads. So far two feet of snow has been recorded in the district and severe cold wave has gripped the area.
Later Army troops removed the snow and opened Lowari tunnel that links Chitral with the rest of the country. People are facing difficulties due to shortage of LPG and firewood and were confined inside their houses.
Roads leading to Shandur Pass, Yar Khoon and Broghal were also closed due to the snowfall.
