Delegation of All Parties Hurriyat Conference meets Prime Minister

A seven member delegation of All Parties Hurriyat Conference led by its Chairman, Mir Waiz Umer Farooq called on Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf at the Prime Minister’s House.
Welcoming the delegation, the Prime Minister said that there is consensus in Pakistan among all political parties on Kashmir issue. In this connection, he alluded to the appointment of veteran political leaders Nawabzada Nasrullah Khan (Late) and Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman as chairmen of the Kashmir Committee.
Pakistan, the Prime Minister said, takes pride in the indigenous struggle waged by the people of Kashmir for their right of self determination. “We praise the political acumen and wisdom of the Hurriyat leadership in its efforts to highlight the case of the people of Kashmir”, he said.
The Prime Minister said that Pakistan seeks to resolve the Kashmir issue on the basis of United Nation’s resolutions and aspiration of the Kashmiri people.
The Prime Minister said that the engagement with Hurriyat Conference is a positive development and a recognition of the just cause of the people of Kashmir.
The Prime Minister praised the vision, wisdom and the patience that the Kashmiri leaders have demonstrated in highlighting the cause of the Kashmiri people and assured them that “Pakistan fully stands behind them”.
Mir Waiz Umer Farooq thanked the Prime Minister for welcoming the delegation at the Prime Minister’s House and said that the people of Kashmir value the unconditional support of the government and the people of Pakistan.
Other members of the delegation were Maulana Abbas Ansari – Itteha-ul-Muslimeen, Professor Abdul Ghani Bhat – Muslim Conference, Bilal Ghani Lone – J & K Peoples Conference, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza – J & K Peoples League, Agha Syed Hasan Al-Moosvi – J & K Anjuman-e-Shari-Shian and Mussadiq Adil – J & K Peoples Political Front.
Hina Rabbani Khar, Minister for Foreign Affairs, Qamar Zaman Kaira, Minister for Information and Broadcasting and other senior government officials were present during the meeting.
