Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf has sought additional funds amounting to Rs.10 billion for his annual discretionary development budget to spend in selected constituencies.
Prime Minister has already received Rs.32 billion within short span of time to spend on selected constituencies to win sympathies of voters in next general elections.
A high level official told “Online” that the prime minister secretariat has issued another direction to the finance ministry and planning commission for the arrangement of additional Rs.10 billion for the prime minister annual discretionary development budget which will take total development budget outlay of premier to Rs.42 billion.
Official said the planning commission will place a cut on development budget allocated for different sectors including education and water and power to accommodate prime minister’s development budget.
Prime Minister has already finished his annual discretionary development budget of Rs.22 billion in the first three and half months of current financial year 2012-13 and after that prime minister secretariat sought additional Rs.10 billion. The all additional amount of Rs.10 billion has already been released in favor of the prime minister’s discretionary budget during last month. Out of which Rs4 billion was alone withdrawn from the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata’s) development budget.
The official said the release of Rs.32 billion to the prime minister has been made under Peoples Works Programme (PWP- II) which is the part of overall public sector development programme (PSDP).The government has allocated Rs.22 billion for PWP-II and Rs5 billion for PWP-I during on going financial year 2012-13.
This fund will not be used for development works but the amount will be injected into the pockets of "workers". The poor public will be obliged to pay.
Dear Shabir I agree with ur comments. This is a discretionary fund. The PM has already obtained Rs. 32 billion and these Rs. 10 billion is a fresh addition in that fund. The total amount has been paid by the ministry of finance so who will be responsible to pay it back. The Public………..
Nice comments…………………
dear pm sahib is now in a mood to win the hearts of the miserable nation by distributing this money lavishly . he must know that their government has take loan from IMF .there is a shortage of electricity and he is just distributing money ranging between 500 to 1000 amoung the poor people to win their sympathies . the supreme court should take severe action .ultimate burden will be on public which will have to beat the brunt of inflation and corruption.
