A trial court on Friday accepted the bail petition of former Railways SSP Javed Khan in three different cases against surety a bond of Rs 100,000 each.
The Railway Police had filed three cases against the former official for illegal recruitments, tampering with official records and abusing power after he had retired from service last year.
Special Central Judge Iftikhar Ali approved Javed’s bail because he suffered from high blood pressure, diabetes and heart ailments and had been admitted to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences.
Counsels for the accused, Sheikh Ahsan-ud-Din and Qazi Waqar contended that their client was ill and the cases framed against him were based on malafide intent and were politically motivated.
They argued that Javed had denied all allegations. He had also been nominated for the Quaid-e-Azam Police Medal award for recovering stolen railway tracks.
Railway Prosecutor Inspector Riaz Bosal opposed the bail petition saying that the accused had to be interrogated in corruption and fraud cases.
