At least 27 killed in Connecticut school massacre

Mass shooting by an unidentified gunman at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut has left around 27 dead, including at least 18 children.

The firing began in the school hall at around 9:35am three people went to investigate but were shot immediately. According to a witness, around 100 rounds were fired and 600 students were present in the school premises. A law enforcement source said that around 27 people had been killed, 18 of which were children, and several received gunshot wounds.

The 20-year-old gunman is reportedly from New Jersey.
