The employees of the Prosecutor General Office on Thursday announced a strike demanding better salaries which is fair to the “tough” work that is demanded of them.
The office-bearers of the Employees’ Union in a meeting decided to go on a strike over the alleged indifference shown by the department’s senior officials to fulfill their demands.
The workers stopped work, left their offices and held a sit-in in front of the Prosecution Department. They were carrying banners and placards and raised slogans against their department seniors.
Addressing the crowd, the office-bearers said the seniors have been informed about the longstanding demands but in vain. They said the workers observe strict and long office hours but were not being compensated like their colleagues in other departments.
“The employees are living a hand-to-mouth life and will continue the strike until their demands are met,” APCA president Malik Sadaqat said.
