Bokhari confirms ratification of Pak-India agreements, MoU with India, Sri Lanka

Acting President Syed Nayyar Hussain Bokhari has confirmed Pakistan’s ratification of three agreements namely Cooperation and Mutual Assistance in Customs Matters Agreement, Bilateral Cooperation Agreement on Mutual Recognition between The Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority (PSQCA) and Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), and the agreement on Redressal of Trade Grievances between India and Pakistan that was signed during the 7th round of Pakistan and India Commerce Secretaries’ Level Talks held on September 20-21 this year at Islamabad.
Furthermore, the acting president had also confirmed ratification of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Cultural Cooperation between Pakistan National Council of Arts (PNCA) and Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) which was signed on September 8 this year during the Indian external affairs minister’s visit to Pakistan.
The Cabinet of Pakistan had accorded its approval to ratification of these protocols on October 31, 2012.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a summary requested Prime Minister (PM) Raja Pervez Ashraf to forward the instruments of ratification for president’s approval and affixation of his green seal on the documents.
Accordingly, acting upon the advice of the PM, the acting president confirmed the ratification of three agreements and one MoU by affixing his seal.
The acting president also confirmed Pakistan’s ratification of the agreement for Cooperation in the Field of Media that was signed between the Government of Islamic Republic of Pakistan and the Government of the Democratic Republic of Sri Lanka on February 11, 2012 during the visit of the Sri Lankan president to Pakistan.
