Rain in different parts of the country

Intermittent rains in different parts of the country with snowfall over the hills has increased intensity of cold.
According to Met Office spokesman upper and central parts of Punjab‚ Balochistan‚ Khyber Pakhtunkhwa‚ Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan are receiving intermittent rains. He said the spell of moderate to light rain will continue for another 24 hours. Khuzdar has received highest rain of 25 mm and Karachi 18 mm.
There are also reports of snowfall in Kalaam‚ Malam Jabba Murree and Galiyat. This spell of snowfall is expected to continue till Saturday.
Intensity of cold will further increase in upper and central parts of the country during the next two days.
Meanwhile the first winter rain in Karachi on Thursday morning provided relief. Rain was reported from Nazimabad, North Karachi, Buffer Zone, Airport, Gulistan Jauhar, Gulshan Iqbal, Shahrah-e-Faisal, Nursery, Guru Mandir, Gulshan Maymar and Malir.
Rain emergency was imposed in some parts of Karachi due to roads inundation. The rain also created some problems for the residents as they faced electricity shutdown with the start of the rain.
The frequent medium and heavy showers turned many of the roads slippery and dangerous for motor cyclists, with many roads and streets submerged in knee-deep and waist-deep water.
Hospitals received several injured in rain-related incidents, including motor cyclists.
Apart from Karachi, there are also reports of rain in Jacobabad, Hyderabad and other cities of Sindh.
Peshawar, tribal agencies and northern areas will continue to receive the downpour for next two days
Road link with Ziarat in Balochistan has also been cut off due to heavy snowfall in the area.
