Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) asked the electoral body to enlist the army to avoid rigging during the polls in Punjab ahead of elections due next year.
The issue was discussed during a meeting between, President PPP, Punjab wing, Mian Manzoor Watoo and Chief Election Commission, Fakhruddin G. Ibrahim here.
PPP informed the CEC regarding the insecurities of his part and rigging complains during by-election within Punjab held this month, therefore the party demanded the electoral body to deploy army to avoid any untoward incident.
The Election Commissioner said that the forthcoming general elections or of vital importance for the future of the country. He said if these elections are not held in transparent way the system could be harmed.
