Weather lightens up after first winter rain

The first winter rain in the city on Tuesday provided relief from the dry chilly weather besides giving an opportunity to the residents of the capital city to enjoy the scenic beauty of the city.
The cloudy weather provided an opportunity to the people to visit various coffee and snack shops while the demand in green tea, soups, samosas, pakoras and dry fruits also increased with the change in weather.
People were seen thronging restaurants and other recreational spots as well.
Meanwhile, the rain also created traffic problems after the roads became slippery, and long queues of traffic were witnessed on busy roads and traffic signals.
Similarly, rain also created problems for the poor people as they looked for shady places to avoid getting themselves wet and burned fire wood to beat the biting cold.
Met office forecasts cold, dry weather: Pakistan Meteorological Department on Tuesday forecast mainly cold and dry weather in most parts of the country during the next 24 hours.
However, partly cloudy conditions were likely to prevail over northern parts of the country, while rain with thunderstorm and light snowfall over the hills was also likely in Malakand, Hazara, Rawalpindi, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) during the next 24 hours.
According to the met office report regarding the synoptic situation said that a shallow trough of westerly wave was affecting the Northern areas of the country.
In addition, mainly cold and dry weather was expected in most parts Punjab. Light rain with thunderstorm was also likely at a few places of Rawalpindi and Gujranwala divisions during the next 24 hours.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) mainly cold and dry weather was expected in most parts of the province, however light rain accompanied with thunderstorms and light snowfall was likely in Malakand and Hazara divisions during the next 24 hours.
Similarly, mainly dry weather was expected in most parts of the Sindh province during the next 24 hours.
Furthermore, in Balochistan mainly cold and dry weather was expected in most parts of the provinces during the next 24 hours.
Partly cloudy weather was expected to prevail in most parts of Kashmir. However rain accompanied with thunderstorms and light snowfall was likely at a few places of Kashmir in the next 24 hours.
GB would also witness partly cloudy weather in most areas, while light rain with thunderstorm with light snowfall would be witnessed during the next 24 hours.
