LHC grants bail in ephedrine case

The Lahore High Court (LHC) Rawalpindi registry has accepted the application for bail of those arrested in Ephedrine excess quota case and has ordered their release in case they submit surety-bonds worth a million rupees.
Sources said that the persons who had been granted bails by the court included former Health Director General Dr Asad Hafeez, owner of Danas Pharmaceutical Company Lahore named Ansar Farooq, and owner of Barlex Pharmaceutical Company Multan named Iftikhar Khan Babar.
A two-member division-bench of the LHC Rawalpindi, comprising Justice Baqir Ali Najafi and Justice Chaudhary Muhammad Younus had heard the arguments in favour of the accused from their counsel Advocate Abdur Rasheed Sheikh. The lawyer completed the arguments on Thursday after which the court reserved the verdict and announced it on Tuesday.
