US Consulate General Public Affairs Officer Brinille Ellis on Monday joined scholars, human rights advocates, police and students at a panel discussion on gender-based violence. The Lahore College for Women University Gender Studies Department hosted the event. Speaking on the occasion, Ellis said, “Today is not just a discussion about gender-based violence, but is also International Human Rights Day and it marks the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.” He stressed that it should not be forgotten that women’s rights were included in human rights, adding that every individual deserved to be treated with respect, honour and dignity.
