Talks between the CNG association and OGRA have failed as both sides could not reach an agreement over pricing.
Representatives from the All Pakistan CNG Association, Petrol Pumps Owner Association and Petroleum Dealers Association met with officials from OGRA here on Tuesday. During the meeting, the CNG Association recommended that the CNG price should be audited and prices should be assessed in the light of the Supreme Court’s directives.
Talking to media, Ghayas Paracha, Chairman of the All Pakistan CNG Association, said: “We will not accept any decision if it is taken without taking us into confidence.” The CNG Association did not agree on the summary of the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet, he added.
Ghayas Paracha said that he was also saddened by the long queues at stations.
According to the ECC proposals, the prices of the CNG will be linked with the petrol price and the CNG will not be provided to the vehicles of 1000CC and above.
The CNG prices should be fixed at the 80 percent of the petrol price, according to the summary moved to the ECC.
However, sources said the proposal regarding linking the prices of two fuels has been put on the backburner.
It is injustice not to provide the gas to all the vehicles, Paracha added asserting that they are being overcharged for the gas and the OGRA also acknowledged that CNG station owners are suffering the loss.
The OGRA officials said the proposals from the CNG Association have been taken note of, and these will be presented to the court on December 17. The next round of talks are scheduled for December 13.
