SHC probes SLI building death

The Sindh High Court (SHC) ordered to enquire into the death of Owais Baig and constituted an investigation team under the supervision of DIG Sultan Khawaja.
Advocate Javed representing the case of Owais who fell to his death from the eight State Life Building on November 30 following an outbreak of fire, petitioned for a case to be lodged against the Chief Executive of the KESC, Chief Fire Officer and the administration of the State Life Building. Mother of late Owais Baig was also present in the court. She said that she demanded justice and lamented the fact that police had declared the cause of her son’s death as suicide. Petitioner Nadeem Sheikh said that if rescue teams had deployed a jumping sheet for the youth who hanged for atleast 15 minutes in mid air, he would have had not fallen to his death. The court ordered for submission of a report into the case by December 20 and adjourned proceedings.
