Rangers continued their targeted search operations in various city areas and arrested at least 15 persons from Mehmoodabad area including workers of political parties, media reports said on Monday.
According to security forces, rangers conducted a targeted search operation in Mehmoodabad and adjoining areas and arrested at least 15 suspects. The detained suspects included three local office bearers of different political parties.
The rangers taking part in the operation also claimed to have recovered large amount of arms and ammunition during the operation. A Kalashnikov was also recovered from the house of a political worker in Water and Sewage Board Staff Colony.
During the operation, the entry and exit points of the area were sealed with the help of at least 50 patrolling vehicles, while the rangers conducted house to house search in Mehmoodabad 1 to 6.
Meanwhile, at least 52 suspected criminals have also been arrested from different areas of the city during the targeted operations undertaken by the security forces.
According to latest reports, the search operation was still in progress.
When contacted, rangers officials declined to provide details about the arrested people and seized firearms by saying that details would be given after the completion of the operation.
